Children around the world love the opportunity to have a party. Usually, this means a birthday party. One of the most popular themes for birthday parties has always been fancy dress, where the host and guests dress up in various outfits related to a theme. Popular choice for fancy dress parties vary with trends, although some perennial favourites include Disney, animals and sports (particularly for boys).
For Disney-themed parties, a good place to start is with an appropriate fancy dress hat. The most in-demand disney fancy dress hat is, predictably, the Mickey/Minnie Mouse ear set. Arguably one of the most significant and iconic designs of the twentieth century, the talking mouse's ears can be seen at fancy dress parties the world over. Great children's costumes are those which are easy to put on and likely to survive an amount of punishment. Some items, such as a genuine Star Wars mask, are likely to make a big impression at parties. Of course, this situation is unlikely to last forever, as children in ten years' time will not have heard of Star Wars or have been subjected to the barrage of marketing which comes with each new installment.
Choosing an animal costume, on the other hand, can be easier. A great animal costume for kids usually includes the addition of face paints, a tail and suitably coloured clothing in between The addition of costume gloves can create any animal in the zoo, from the tiger to the turtle. Some animals are, of course, harder to pull of than others. Creating a whale or fish costume, for example, can be difficult because humans have legs, while fish have fins. The difficulty with turning legs into fins for the sake of a fancy dress costume is that we are unable to walk properly without our legs. Fish costumes are arguably more suited to pool parties.

One of the best places to search for an appropriate costume is on the internet, where you will find a huge range of options to suit all tastes and budgets. It is worth considering that kids would not want to be seen in the same costume twice any more than most adults do.
